python 2.6 dependancys - airtime - ubuntu 12.04

Tried to install the latest airtime. on a fresh ubuntu 12.04 lts desktop enviroment to see if would suit me for my plans.

howveer due to the removal of python 2.6 ( as far as im aware by ubuntu)  im unable to install ..

whats the best course of action as i think the python 2.6 repos nolonger exsist on the ubuntu servers..
